4. Deferrals

The window for deferrals offered to riders who entered the 2020 event has unfortunately closed. Any rider who did not respond to one of the 5 emails sent out will now void their entry.

Here is the process we followed :-

Deferrals were offered to all athletes who entered the 2020 event that was postponed due to Covid-19. These athletes were contacted to update their details and provided with the option to defer to 2022 should they not be able to make the 2021 event. Athletes wanting to participate in 2021 will also needed to confirm their participation by the 19th of March 2021. We have to do this so that we know who we are catering for and what the plans have to be, if we did not hear from you then your entry was cancelled.

5. Race pack collection

Race pack collection will take place on the 23rd of Aril 2021 at the Protea Hotel Conference facility. You cannot miss the branding when you drive into the village.

Pack collection open :-

13:00 – 20:00 Friday 23rd

05:30 – 06:30 am Saturday 24th (NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE TO REGISTRATIONS AT THIS TIME)

6. Start times and batching

Start on Saturday the 23rd of April 2021 : –

Big Mountain riders 06:45 with 10 minutes intervals

Small Mountain 07:30 with 10 minute intervals

PLEASE NOTE: We will make a decision in the week of the race on how the start will work, location and manner. This will be based on municipal Covid-19 guidelines. Once we have clarity an update will be given.

NO: You cannot start in another batch that has not been given the day before. This will result in a 2 hour time penalty.

7. Event briefings

There is no official race village under Covid-19. The decision was made to avoid any potential gatherings. In light of this, event briefings will be filmed and posted to social media and this website by 20:00 every night before the ride. We will really miss not cracking a joke with you and swapping a trail story, but this is how we have to operate for now. Thank you for your understanding.

8. Race images

The brilliant crew at Action Photo will be covering the route. Your images will take a couple of days to edit, when done we will email you and place a link on this website.

9. Spectators

Unfortunately under regulations, spectators are not permitted anywhere on route or at any of the venues. Please don’t be that guy, seriously we are doing everything we possible can to still operate, do not put the event at risk.

10. Prize categories

Under current regulations, prize giving is not permitted at the event. We will send prizes out to the relevant categories within 14 days of the event.

This race offers many options and therefore a serious amount of categories, so for a prize category to be official the category must make up 10% of the finishing field. Our recognized prize categories are : –

– *Thaba e Kholo 1st Male and Female

– *Thabe e Nyenyane 1st Male and Female

TEAM CATEGORIES

*1st Mens Team, *1st Ladies Team, 1st Mixed Team (Thaba e Kholo only)

SINGLE DAY CATEGORIES

1st Male, 1st Female (per distance cat)

PLEASE NOTE : categories marked with a star qualify for prize money. This is worked out off total event entrants.  All prize winners will be photographed at the finish line and contacted in the week after the race.

11. Routes and GPS

GPS is the simply the best way to get around this course. We will send out files on Wednesday evening the 21st of April. We cannot release them earlier as the route is made up of majority private land owners. The files will be on the website too with instructions.

Please use a GPS if you have one, please do not rely on following the person in front of you. On the day, somebody can knock over a sign, wildlife or life stock can trample a sign. We do not have control over these factors, but we do have control over which route the GPS takes you. The route is marked, but it is always better to be safe.
